I n 2000, Seven Rivers RC&D Wheels to Work Program received a $1.1 million grant from the State of Georgia administered through the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority. This program is designed to assist Temporary Assistance for Needy Families recipients in purchasing low-cost vehicles at zero interest and low monthly payments. The Seven Rivers RC&D Council's Wheels to Work Program has provided an opportunity for nearly 300 individuals to seek employment in the twenty-county Program area. This grant was made possible through a collaborative effort with GEFA, Department of Human Resources, Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), Office of the Governor, and the Georgia RC&D.
